چکیده
The relationship between exercise and susceptibility to upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) has been modelled in the form of a 'J'shaped curve as illustrated in FIGURE 1 and the relationship between exercise load and immune function is modelled as the inverse (mirror image of this curve). This model suggests that while engaging in moderate activity may enhance immune function above sedentary levels, excessive amounts of prolonged high-intensity exercise induce detrimental effects on immune function. The literature provides strong evidence in support of the latter point, though relatively little evidence is available to suggest that there is any clinically significant difference in immune function between sedentary and moderately active persons. Comparison of the Effects of Total Body Resistance Exercise and Traditional Resistance Training on the Immune System Biomarker in Inactive Obese Women
Objective: This study aimed to compare the effect of eight weeks of traditional resistance training and total body resistance exercise (TRX) on the immune system of obese sedentary women. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 28 obese women with a mean body mass index (BMI) of 30.39± 4.65 (kg/m2) were randomly divided into three groups of TRX training (N= 9), traditional res...
متن کاملAltitude, exercise and immune function.
Little is known with regard to how acute and chronic high altitude exposure effects immune function. Hypoxia is an environmental stressor that is known to elicit alterations in both the autonomic nervous system and endocrine function. Alterations in these systems can have an immediate as well as a longer lasting impact on immune function. Studies from the summit of Pikes Peak (4300 m) have indi...

Background & Objectives: Regular exercise training has considerable effects on improving the function of the immune system. In this regard, the type of exercise training is of pivotal importance. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of resistance, endurance, and combined resistance/endurance (RE) exercise training on serum interleukin-18 (IL-18) and C-reactive protein...

Objectives: Old age is associated with irregularities in many aspects of body immune system function. During this period, the immune responses decline with increasing age. In other words, with decreasing number of immune cells, which are responsible for detecting and direct attack to contaminated cells, the immune response decreases and results in failure of the immune system. As...
